Smiths Falls council supported a development agreement for a proposed four-unit residential building at 33 Lorne St. during its Aug. 31 special meeting.
The property has 17.78 metres of frontage, 22 centimetres less than the minimum required for a multiple dwelling. The town’s Planning Advisory Committee previously approved the minor variance with conditions.
The agreement requires the developer to implement stormwater-management measures intended to keep calculated peak runoff toward neighbouring properties at or below existing levels. Plans also include two serviceberry trees along Lorne Street and 14 cedar trees screening the parking area.
Coun. Dawn Quinn, who chaired the meeting, asked whether parking had been addressed. Planner Richard Grant confirmed it had.
Council supported bringing forward the necessary bylaw authorizing the mayor and clerk to execute the agreement.
