PAKENHAM — Lanark County is preparing to move ahead with Phase 2 of the rehabilitation of the historic 5-Arches Bridge during the 2026 construction season.
The work will continue efforts to preserve the structure, extend its service life and maintain its heritage character.
Residents will have an opportunity to learn more and provide input at a public information centre scheduled for Thursday, April 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pakenham Library, 128 MacFarlane St.
The session will follow an open-house format, with County staff and project representatives available to answer questions about construction timing, traffic impacts and detour plans. There will be no formal presentation, and attendees can drop in at any time.
The 5-Arches Bridge is a designated heritage structure and a key transportation link in the community. Phase 2 will build on work completed in 2025 and is expected to include masonry rehabilitation and improvements to the roadway approaches.
“Rehabilitation of the 5-Arches Bridge is part of Lanark County’s long-term asset management strategy, supporting the preservation of existing infrastructure, reducing long-term lifecycle costs and minimizing future disruptions to the community,” said public works director Sean Derouin.
Additional information and project updates will be shared on the County’s website as the construction season approaches.
