During Tuesday evening’s Committee of the Whole meeting, CAO Malcolm Morris announced that Tuesday morning marked the fifth year of Le Boat’s North American branch being headquartered in Smiths Falls.
“It’s indeed a success story,” commented CAO Morris, noting that even after two years of restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Le Boat is currently almost at pre-pandemic levels of summer bookings.
“The plan was to have a fleet of 32 vessels in Smiths Falls; they are currently at 30 and plan to add four more next season,” Morris said. He stated that 85% of this summer’s bookings are from Canadian and American customers; 25% are Europeans.
“This is really good news, we’re delighted with the progress so far. Town Staff are meeting with the global team tomorrow to discuss next steps forward.”
Mayor Shawn Pankow was on hand to celebrate the fifth anniversary with Le Boat’s team Tuesday morning, as 30 beautiful houseboats were lifted by crane into the Rideau Canal.
Le Boat is headquartered at 1 Jasper Avenue Smiths Falls, and their distinctive white yachts can be seen cruising the Rideau Canal from May to October. Le Boat is now officially open for the 2022 season.
