Leading by example, staff, physicians, volunteers and board members from the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital (CPDMH) and the CPDMH Foundation, have definitely shown their love for their hospital and their community. This group of amazing individuals, known as ‘Team Vital’, have not only poured their energy, hearts, sweat, and tears into their jobs over the past two and a half years, but they have also been donating a portion of their hard-earned money, raising funds towards the NEW Emergency Department and needed patient care equipment here at the hospital.
Led by the Family Campaign committee, the hospital family set an ambitious fundraising goal to raise $100,000. “We need to all understand that this goal was set at a time when everyone was already feeling incredibly stretched in so many ways,” shares Foundation Executive Director, Robyn Arseneau. “Our hospital family were already giving so much extra of their time and energy by going above and beyond daily in helping patients and our community through the pandemic. To ask them on top of this to make a financial gift… and they agree to meet the challenge? Now that’s a true testament to our phenomenal local healthcare heroes!” Arseneau adds.
Team Vital completely blew their goal of $100,000.00 out of the water and has now decided that they want to raise even more funds to support the purchase of much needed patient care equipment for the NEW Emergency Department. Mark Gormley, RN & Interim Medical Surgical & Emergency Unit Manager shares, “Team Vital is on fire and wants to give even more than they already have. I couldn’t believe it when they continued to raise an additional $50,000.00, for a grand total of $150,000.00!”
The “I’m a Lifesaver, Team Vital” campaign was spearheaded by the Healthy Futures. Together! Family Campaign committee, led by staff members Kerri Ann Campbell, RN, Mark Gormley, RN & Interim Medical Surgical & Emergency Unit Manager, physicians Dr. Bill Potvin and Dr. Jamie Fullerton. As natural born leaders, these individuals rallied the troops by providing education on the project, hosting special events, and proudly wearing their “I’m a Lifesaver, Team Vital” pins, encouraging others to do the same.
Last week, Team Vital was celebrated for their amazing team effort with an outdoor celebration on the future site of the NEW Emergency Department. ’Team Vital’ members enjoyed a mid-day treat with popcorn, cotton candy, and snow-cones, followed by the much anticipated announcement of the total their financial contribution has raised for the campaign. “The love that the hardworking and dedicated staff and volunteers demonstrate here at CPDMH and the CPDMH Foundation is truly inspiring and I’m excited to share that they have not only exceeded their fundraising goal, but have plans to raise even more!” Arseneau exclaimed.
“We are so grateful to each and every member of Team Vital and the CPDMH family”, notes Linda McGreevy, CPDMH Board Chair and Campaign Advisor. “I am amazed by the generosity of this team that cares so deeply for our community. I can’t wait for them to have a new, state-of-the-art facility and brand new patient care equipment to provide care once the NEW Emergency Department is complete. They truly deserve it!”
