During the town council meeting in Smiths Falls on Monday night, Mayor Shawn Pankow took a moment to remind council of the upcoming National Day of Mourning on April 28.
This day is for honouring anyone affected by workplace fatality: remembering those who died, or suffered injury, disability, or illness as a result of incidents at work.
The mayor declared that “Smiths Falls recognizes the importance of health and safety. Working together, we can prevent injuries and deaths to workers before they occur.”
There will be a National Day of Mourning service at the Workplace Memorial on Beckwith Street in Smiths Falls at 6pm on April 28
