The Smiths Falls Jr. A Bears lost a tough 1-0 decision to the Cornwall Colts in CCHL league play Friday, Oct. 4 at home in front of 318 fans.
The loss drops the Bears to a tie for fourth place in the Robinson Division with a 3-3-1 record for seven points. Cornwall is tied for second in the Yzerman Division with a 5-3 record with 10 points – four back of Rockland who is leading the league with a perfect 7-0 record.
After a scoreless first period, Bradley Fraser flipped in the eventual game winner – a powerplay marker with 8:23 showing. It was his fifth goal of the season. Assists went to Tristan Miron and Zack Speck-Meek.
Cohen Lesperance-Spack was the winning goalie, earning the shutout by turning away 29 shots.
Just four minor infractions were delivered in the game – two to each team.
Game stars were Lesperance-Spack and Fraser earning No. 1 and No. 2 spots, while Smiths Falls goalie, Ethan Morrow had the No. 3 star.
Last Sunday, Sept. 29, the Bears faced a shootout loss against the Nepean Raiders, 4-3.
Smiths Falls travels to Ottawa Oct. 5 to meet the Junior Senators at 7:30 p.m. and on Thursday, Oct. 10, they are in Hawkesbury for a 7 p.m. puck drop. Next Friday, the Bears play host to Renfrew at 7:30 p.m.
