The Almonte Legion Pipe Band is welcoming new members for beginner lessons starting Oct. 19 and running until the end of March.
The 45-minute lessons will be held Mondays at 6 p.m. at Almonte Legion Branch 240, 100 Bridge St., Almonte.
No prior experience is required. The non-competitive, community-focused band welcomes pipers and drummers of all ages and abilities, from youth to seniors, including complete beginners and experienced players. The band is particularly recruiting students interested in learning snare drum, tenor drum or bagpipes. Regular practice is expected.
Members rehearse, learn traditional music and perform at community parades, local celebrations and Highland games throughout the region. The band also offers an opportunity to connect with local heritage, make new friends and take part in community events.
