Asset Builder awards recognize those supporting children and youth across Lanark County and Leeds and Grenville

REGIONAL — Nominations are now open to recognize individuals, businesses and organizations making a difference in the lives of children and youth across Lanark County and Leeds and Grenville.

The initiative, led by Every Kid in Our Communities and the Lanark County Child & Youth Services Collaborative, aims to highlight “Asset Builders” — people and groups who actively support, inspire and advocate for young people.

Organizers are encouraging residents to nominate those who invest time in youth, provide meaningful opportunities, amplify young voices or help shape a positive future for children in their communities.

“Asset Builders” may include volunteers, mentors, educators, local businesses or community organizations whose efforts often go unrecognized but have a lasting impact.

“This type of recognition is so important because it allows children and youth to thank adults for the important role they are taking in their lives,” said Sharon Halladay, a member of the Asset Builder Committee, a subcommittee of the Lanark County Child and Youth Services Collaborative.

“It also reminds the community of how important adults are in building good, caring citizens for the future. Even small acts of kindness can make a huge difference in the life of a child.”

Last year, eight Lanark County recipients were recognized as Asset Builders, including community groups, volunteers and youth-focused organizations such as the Almonte Civitan Club and Port Elmsley Karate Jutsu.

The nomination deadline is May 15, 2026. Selected nominees will be honoured at two upcoming recognition events: June 7 in Leeds and Grenville, and June 24 in Lanark County.

Nomination forms are available online through the organizers.

The campaign is part of a broader effort to celebrate and strengthen community support systems for youth, with organizers urging residents to take part and recognize those making a difference.
