Build a Mountain of Food campaign continues to drive food bank support across the region

ELGIN — Week four of the RCL Automotive Build a Mountain of Food campaign brought in strong support across Elgin and Westport on Saturday, Nov. 30.

Elgin totals reached 1,035 pounds of food and $7,642.50 in cash donations for the Elgin Food Bank under sunny skies and cool temperatures.

In Westport, the campaign collected 350 pounds of food and $5,506.80 for the Westport Food Bank.

Organizers said support stayed steady through the day, with volunteers noting a busy early rush at Gordanier’s Freshmart in Elgin and continued turnout in Westport.

Kacee Kudrinko, owner of Kudrinko’s in Westport said they’ve supported the food drive for the 19 years since its inception.

“We are proud to support the Westport Food Bank on a year-round basis and we’ve provided over $6,000 in discounts to the food bank this year alone,” Kudrinko said, thanking those who make it all possible. “That’s you, the donors!”
