Canada’s snap election: What voters need to know in Lanark—Frontenac & Leeds—Grenville—Thousand Islands

Canadians will go to the polls on April 28 for the snap federal election, called by Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Voters in the Leeds—Grenville—Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes, and the newly redrawn Lanark—Frontenac ridings, will be casting their ballots to choose their next Members of Parliament.

This election comes on the heels of national electoral boundary changes that shifted riding lines across the country, including the removal of Kingston-area communities from the former Lanark—Frontenac—Kingston riding. The new Lanark—Frontenac district now includes rural portions of Frontenac and Lanark counties.

Locally, candidates from all major parties have begun campaigning, with familiar faces and new challengers alike stepping forward. As the race unfolds, constituents can expect to hear more about party platforms addressing key regional concerns such as healthcare, affordability, infrastructure, agriculture, and rural broadband access.

Advance polls will open April 18 through to April 21, with voter information cards expected to be delivered by mail in the coming weeks.

LANARK—FRONTENAC RIDING

  • Conservative Party of Canada: Scott Reid (incumbent)
  • Liberal Party of Canada: Michelle Foxton
  • New Democratic Party: Danielle Rae
  • Green Party of Canada: Jesse Pauley (will not be actively campaigning).

LEEDS—GRENVILLE—THOUSAND ISLANDS AND RIDEAU LAKES RIDING
