Carleton Place voters will have an opportunity to hear from candidates seeking a seat on town council during an all-candidates event Thursday, Oct. 1.

The Carleton Place & District Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Lanark and Leeds 88.1 myFM/92.3 WOWFM, is hosting the event at the Carleton Place Arena Upper Hall, 75 Neelin St.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the event running from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

Eleven certified candidates are seeking five councillor positions in the 2026 municipal election: Mark Hinton, Linda Seccaspina, Dena Comley, Jeff Atkinson, Sarah Cavanagh, Ian Dorward, Kory Earle, Paul Frangione, Lori Goulding, Bryant Cougle and Shane O’Neill.

Bob Perreault of Lanark and Leeds 88.1 myFM/92.3 WOWFM (CHLK-FM) will moderate the event.

“Local radio has an important role to play in connecting people with what’s happening in their communities, particularly during a municipal election,” Perreault said. “This partnership gives us another opportunity to bring local issues into focus and help voters better understand the choices before them on election day.”

Mayor Toby Randell and Deputy Mayor Andrew Tennant, who have been acclaimed for the 2026-30 term, will also be invited to attend and provide brief remarks at the beginning of the evening.

Questions will cover municipal issues including growth and infrastructure, municipal finances and taxation, economic development, housing, transportation and community services.

“The Chamber believes an informed and engaged community is important to the future of Carleton Place,” said Jackie Kavanagh, general manager of the Carleton Place & District Chamber of Commerce.

“Our role with this event is to create a fair, non-partisan forum where residents and businesses can hear directly from the candidates and better understand their perspectives on the issues and opportunities facing our community.”

The event is supported by the Ottawa Real Estate Board as a community leadership partner.

Those unable to attend in person can watch the all-candidates event live online.
