Mayor and deputy mayor positions appear headed for acclamation following the close of nominations
Eleven candidates are running for five councillor positions in Carleton Place following the close of nominations for the 2026 municipal election.
Edward Patrick “Toby” Randell is the only candidate for mayor, while Andrew Roy Tennant is the sole candidate for deputy mayor. Both are expected to be elected by acclamation, subject to certification by the municipal clerk.
The council race includes Mark Hinton, Linda Seccaspina, Dena Comley, Jeff Atkinson, Sarah Cavanagh, Ian Dorward, Kory Earle, Paul Frangione, Lori Goulding, Bryant Cougle and Shane O’Neill.
Voters will elect five councillors from the field of 11 candidates.
The candidate list remains unofficial. The clerk is expected to examine and certify the nominations by Monday, Aug. 24.
The municipal election will be held Oct. 26.
