CARLETON PLACE — The newest one-stop shop for care threw open its doors in full community style on Saturday, April 18, as the Carleton Place Health Hub on Costello Drive marked its grand opening with a lively, family-friendly event.
The multi-business facility, branded collectively as the Health Hub, brings a wide range of services under one roof. Anchoring the building are 15 physicians occupying the entire second floor, supported by complementary services including a pharmacy, physiotherapy clinic, prosthetics specialists, lab services and even a tea room.
“This building is really about having everything connected,” said Cece Daigle, a pharmacy assistant, during the event. “Everything in this building is part of the Health Hub. It’s nice to have everything as a one-stop shop.”
While the physicians have already held their own opening, the spotlight this time fell on the other tenants, including V2 Innovations, a fourth-floor prosthetics provider. Expert Physio Plus, a physiotherapy clinic, is located on the ground floor alongside the pharmacy and Spill the Tea Café. Some services, including lab testing, are expected to open in the coming weeks, while massage therapy, optical, podiatry and audiology services are also planned.
The grand opening drew a strong crowd, with families moving through the space and enjoying face painting, free food and a lineup of raffle prizes ranging from Blue Jays tickets to custom orthotics and gift cards from local businesses.
Organizers said bringing the event together across multiple businesses came with challenges.
“Finding a date that worked for everyone was probably the hardest part,” said Alex Rusalovsky, pharmacy owner, noting Easter weekend was ruled out due to family commitments. “We also had to coordinate who was reaching out to which businesses for raffle donations so we didn’t overwhelm anyone.”
That coordination paid off, with 10 local businesses contributing prizes and a steady stream of visitors throughout the day.
The celebration also featured a ribbon cutting earlier in the day with Mayor Toby Randell, who helped officially mark the opening and took part in slicing the event cake.
Beyond the festivities, business owners say the real value of the Health Hub lies in its collaborative model, designed to make accessing care more convenient for residents.
“The turnout has been awesome and the community members have been very encouraging,” said Rusalovsky.
