A 21-year-old Carleton Place man is facing impaired driving charges after a vehicle rolled into a ditch on Highway 7 early Saturday morning.

Members of the Ottawa detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police said officers were called shortly before 2:30 a.m. on May 16, 2026, after a vehicle rolled into a ditch on Highway 7.

Police said officers suspected the driver was under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening device was used, and the driver was taken to the Ottawa detachment for further testing.

As a result, Carter Standish, 21, of Carleton Place, is charged with operation while impaired — alcohol and drugs, and operation while impaired — blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.

Standish had his licence suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

He is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice in Ottawa at a later date.
