Carleton Place Porchfest will return for its second year Aug. 22, with more than 20 performances currently listed.
The free event will feature jazz, folk, country rock, blues, Celtic and pop music, along with selections from upcoming musicals. Performances will take place from 1 to 4 p.m.
Organizers say porch owners and performers are still coming forward to join the event.
New this year is a youth stage at Carleton Junction, featuring selections from the Mississippi Mudds youth cast and Riversong Players.
An afterparty featuring live music will be held from 8 to 11 p.m. at The Waterfront Gastropub.
The rain date is Aug. 29 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Organizers say performers of all ages, styles and skill levels are welcome. Those interested can sign up at carletonplaceporchfest.ca to secure a time slot and be featured on the official Porchfest map.
Music across Carleton Place
Residents and visitors can walk or cycle through Carleton Place neighbourhoods, using an online map to find performances on porches, in garages, on driveways and in yards throughout the community.
Children aged five to 10 can also participate by teaming up with a porch owner to operate lemonade and cookie stands along the Porchfest route. Organizers say participants can keep the money they earn.

Porchfest is part of a grassroots movement found in towns and cities across North America, bringing live music to community doorsteps and encouraging neighbours to gather and celebrate local talent.
Carleton Place Porchfest is organized by a volunteer team led by Bill and Patti Pope, with support from the Town of Carleton Place.
The event is free. Donations to the Lanark County Food Bank — The Hunger Stop are encouraged at Porchfest locations.
