Community support essential for new food hub

During Tuesday evening’s council meeting, Mayor Shawn Pankow shared a press release from The Table in Perth, which is intending to open up a drop-in food centre in Smiths Falls called The Falls Food Hub.

Canopy Growth and the town of Smiths Falls have donated funds to kickstart the endeavor; however, in order to assess the sustainability of the project, The Table has released a survey, asking the community to show their support. They are asking for pledges of volunteering, in-kind support, and financial support.

The Falls Food Hub aims to fill a gap in Smiths Falls, offering fresh meals as well as a place for people to come together and enjoy conversation and friendship. The venture requires a lot of people working together in order to make it happen.  “The success of this project is truly dependent on the support of the community,” explained Ramsey Hart, Director of The Table.

Local businesses are distributing paper copies of this survey; it is also available online at thetablecfc.org. If you have skills to share, dollars to spare, or time to lend a hand, please take a few moments to fill it out.
