A 40-year-old Omemee resident is facing an impaired driving charge after the Lanark County Detachment of th Ontario Provincial Police responded to a complaint in Beckwith Township on Friday evening.
Lanark County OPP said officers were called to a report of youth jumping from a bridge on Highway 7, just west of Carleton Place, shortly after 6 p.m. on July 31. While at the scene, officers spoke with the driver of a vehicle that was there.
The driver was arrested and transported to the OPP detachment in Carleton Place for testing.
Devon Watson, 40, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Driving a motor vehicle with liquor readily available
Police said Watson was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Sept. 14.
Watson’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days under Ontario’s Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension program, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
