DELTA — One of the region’s longest-running spring traditions returns this weekend as the 59th annual Delta Maple Syrup Festival takes place April 18 and 19.
Hosted by the Delta Agricultural Society, the two-day event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Delta Fairgrounds and celebrates the maple season with food, vendors and family activities.
First launched in 1967 as a Centennial project, the festival has grown into a major draw for the village, bringing visitors from across eastern Ontario each year.
At the centre of the event is the all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, served with fresh local maple syrup and sausages. Organizers say the meal remains a cornerstone of the weekend and a key attraction for returning visitors.
The fairgrounds will also feature maple syrup producers, craft vendors and activities for children. A large used book sale is planned at the Old Town Hall, adding to the lineup of things to see and do.
Traditionally held the third weekend of April, the festival marks the shift into spring and highlights the region’s agricultural roots while supporting local producers.
Organizers expect another strong turnout as residents and visitors gather in Delta for a weekend centred on maple syrup and community.
