Distraction thieves strike in Carleton Place Independent Grocer parking lot

Lanark County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking assistance from the public to help identify the persons responsible for a distraction theft that  occurred in the parking lot of the Independent Grocer in Carleton Place at  approximately 2:30 p.m. on the 20th of February 2024. 

Three unknown suspect(s) partook in the crime. Two females distracted a lady who had just returned to her vehicle saying there was money under her car. While the lady was distracted by the females, another party entered the front of the vehicle and removed the purse contained inside.  

OPP recommend that members of the public remain vigilant and keep items of value out of sight or stored in a secure location and be weary of similar  frauds.
