Dustin Bulloch is the new councillor for South Crosby Ward following a municipal by-election held Wednesday, June 26.

Bulloch received 283 votes, securing the win over three other candidates. Jordan DeLong placed second with 114 votes, followed by Rob Hennessy with 65 votes and Jonathan Carr with 43.

“I’m running in this by-election because I believe I can have a positive impact at the council table. Municipal government is the level that has the greatest impact on our day-to-day lives, and more people should feel empowered to get involved and have their voices heard. I’m committed to being a steadfast advocate for residents and ensuring local government works for all of us,” he told Hometown News in a Q&A in May.

Of the 2,502 eligible voters, just 20.2 per cent cast a ballot.

Mary Ellen Truelove, clerk for the Township of Rideau Lakes, posted the unofficial results to the township’s website shortly after polls closed at 8 p.m. tonight.

Bulloch will be sworn in during the regular council meeting on Monday, July 7.

Please watch for more with Bulloch as we catch up with him.
