Extra Garbage Bag approved again

On Tuesday, Carleton Place council’s committee of the whole once again amended their waste management bylaw to permit an extra bag of garbage per household while the current public health stay-at-home order is in effect. This is the third such change since the Covid-19 pandemic began with the previous two coinciding with similar lock-down regulations. The cost to the town for these additional bags works out to about $4K per month according to Public Works Director Guy Bourgon. The committee also approved Bourgon’s request to be given delegated authority to approve such measures in the future without council approval in the event of another lock-down.
