1 person dead, investigation continues on Highway 29 collision

UPDATE: 3:15 p.m.

A 61-year old woman from Smiths Falls was killed this morning in a multi-vehicle collision outside Smiths Falls. 

Police won’t be releasing the name of the victim, according to Bill Dickson, OPP media relations coordinator, told Hometown News. 

Highway 29 has reopened.

SMITHS FALLSOntario Provincial Police are investigating a fatal collision on Highway 29 that left one person dead and forced the closure of the road at Kitley South Elmsley Townline Road on Thursday morning.

OPP media relations coordinator Bill Dickson confirmed to Hometown News that “one person died as a result of injuries suffered in the collision.”

He said the road “will be closed until our on-scene investigation wraps up.”

The highway south of Smiths Falls remains closed, with detours in place.
