Fatal house fire in Rideau Lakes Township under investigation

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal house fire in Rideau Lakes Township.

On November 30, 2021, at approximately 9:15 p.m., members of the Leeds Detachment of the OPP and the Rideau Lakes Township Fire Department responded to the fire on 9th Concession Road.

One body was located in the home after the fire was extinguished. The identification of the deceased will not be released at this time.

The Leeds OPP Crime Unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) Unit are assisting with the investigation, in conjunction with the Ontario Fire Marshal (OFM), the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario (OCCO) and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OFPS).
