Fatal motor vehicle accident in Smiths Falls

** Update ** Pedestrian Fatality – Arrest

On Sunday, August 30, 2020, Smiths Falls Police responded to the report of a deceased male found on Rideau Avenue North in Smiths Falls. The male identified as Daniel Kilpatrick, 58, of Ottawa, was the apparent victim of a collision with a motor vehicle.

Smiths Falls Police have arrested and charged a man in connection with this incident. Craig Kehoe, 24, of Kemptville, is charged with Failing to stop at an accident causing death. Kehoe is scheduled to appear in court November 2, 2020.

The investigation of this matter is still ongoing. Police are actively seeking to speak to the owner of a second vehicle that was in the area around the time of this incident. Anyone who may have any information regarding the vehicle in the photograph is asked to contact Smiths Falls Police.

Anyone who was walking or driving in the area of Rideau Av. N. near MacDonald St. between the hours of 1am and 3am on Sunday, August 30th is asked to contact Smiths Falls Police.
