Mayor Pankow opened Smiths Falls Town Council meeting on Monday evening with a few warm words about recently departed Thomas Allen Foulkes. The flags at town hall were lowered today to honour Foulkes and mourn his passing. “We’ve lost a legend. He was led by his values … committed to improving the quality of life for everyone in our community.”  Mayor Pankow noted that Foulkes was responsible for the installation of the rubberized surface of the walking track in the arena, among many other projects and commitments. “His financial success led to a legacy of philanthropy, here in Smiths Falls and elsewhere,” said the Mayor. “Rest in peace, my friend, you will not be forgotten.”

Councillor Brennan mentioned that Foulkes was a member of the Rotary Club, spearheading the project to give every grade three student in Smiths Falls a picture dictionary. “He was my friend, and I’m going to miss him.”
