SMITHS FALLS — A fourth person has been charged in connection with a Smiths Falls homicide investigation.
On Oct. 19, 2023, officers with the Lanark County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a missing person. Robbie Thomson, 34, is believed to have gone missing sometime between Oct. 12 and Oct. 18, 2023.
On Oct. 29, 2025, three individuals were arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
On Oct. 30, 2025, officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Kelly Jordan Road. Human remains were located on the property and later identified as those of Thomson.
On April 21, 2026, Mark Fenton, 42, of Smiths Falls, was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to murder, contrary to Section 240 of the Criminal Code. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on April 22, 2026.
Police say they will maintain a presence at the Kelly Jordan Road property in Montague Township as the investigation continues.
The Lanark County OPP, in collaboration with the Smiths Falls Police Service, continues to investigate under the direction of the OPP criminal investigation branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. Assistance is also being provided by OPP forensic identification services.
