On Saturday, Aug. 29, the sounds of fiddle, guitar and step dancing will fill Maberly Community Hall as acclaimed artists Pierre Schryer, Danielle Enblom and Ian Clark reunite for a special performance of Heat of the Moment Revisited.
The trio brings together three distinguished careers in traditional music and dance. Their combined accomplishments include JUNO and Canadian Folk Music Award nominations, championship titles, international touring and decades devoted to sharing and preserving Celtic music, dance and cultural traditions.
More than a concert, Heat of the Moment Revisited celebrates the energy, connection and spontaneity at the heart of traditional music. Audiences can expect spirited fiddle tunes, intricate guitar work, powerful step dancing and the joy that emerges when exceptional artists create together in the moment. Drawing inspiration from musical traditions rooted in Ireland, Scotland, Quebec and North America, the performance promises both virtuosity and warmth.
At the heart of the performance is Pierre Schryer, one of Canada’s leading traditional fiddlers. A JUNO nominee, Canadian Folk Music Award nominee and multiple-time champion, Schryer grew up immersed in Franco-Ontarian fiddle traditions and has spent decades sharing Canadian Celtic music with audiences across North America and Europe. His long-standing connection to the Ottawa region’s traditional music community makes this performance especially meaningful for local audiences.
Joining him is Danielle Enblom, an award-winning step dancer, choreographer, researcher and educator from Minnesota’s Red River Métis community. Known for her dynamic performances and deep knowledge of traditional dance forms, Enblom weaves together Irish, Métis, French-Canadian, Appalachian and Ottawa Valley influences in a style described as joyful and spectacular. She has performed throughout North America and Europe alongside many of the world’s leading traditional musicians.
Completing the trio is Ian Clark, a Scottish-born guitarist now based in Ottawa. Respected throughout Canada’s Celtic and folk music communities, Clark is recognized for his sophisticated musicianship, collaborative spirit and masterful command of traditional styles. His long musical partnership with Schryer dates back to Ottawa’s vibrant Irish session scene of the 1990s, a creative connection that helped inspire the original Heat of the Moment recording.
Together, Schryer, Enblom and Clark create a performance deeply rooted in tradition while remaining fresh, vibrant and alive. Through soaring fiddle tunes, the pulse of step dancing and the subtle interplay between guitar and melody, Heat of the Moment Revisited offers audiences an opportunity to experience the power of live music in an intimate community setting.
Hosted at the historic Maberly Community Hall, the evening offers a rare opportunity to enjoy artists of international calibre close to home. A portion of the concert proceeds will support Brooke Valley School, helping strengthen connections among arts, culture and community.
