Hometown Happenings March 20 – 22

Carleton Place events

Curling and Community Bonspiel
Saturday, March 21, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; snacks and prizes. Cost is $240 per team, to be held at the Carleton Place Curling Club, 120 Patterson Crescent. 

Science Saturday
Saturday, March 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Carleton Place Library. For kids ages 10 and up. Join the favourite science-fan Adrian as he brings back another fun and interactive afternoon of science experiments. Register for the event at the link above. 

Spring Fling Fundraiser
Saturday, March 21, 6 p.m. dinner at 7 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Carleton Place. Put on your favourite dress and fabulous fascinator and join the fun. Cost is $100 per ticket. 

History of Canadian Toys
Sunday, March 22, 1 to 3 p.m. Local collector, author and toy expert Bruce Toshack will be in the Heritage Museum to show some favourite toys and talk about the history of toys in Canada. Tickets are $10 per person, but $5 if you’re a member. 

Merrickville events

Country Market
Saturday, March 21,
grand opening, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the community centre. Local distillery, antiques, collectibles, jewelry, crafts and other treasures. 

Smiths Falls events

Ladies Auxiliary Dart Fundraiser
Saturday, March 21,  9:30 a.m.
at the Royal Canadian Legion Smiths Falls – Entry: $45 per 3 person team – Must be 19+ to play – For more info: Ashley Gard at 613-485-2985.

Westport events

Seedy Saturday and Bake Sale
Saturday, March 21, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Westport Royal Canadian Legion. Come for the seed exchange, see the vendors and enjoy the guest speakers. Learn about gardening, land preparation and seed saving.

Generator Party Unplugged
Saturday, March 21, 8 to 11 p.m.
It’s a rock and roll experience with Toronto’s Best ‘90s Grunge Rock cover band Generator Party! This time, they are unplugged as a DUO featuring Jane and Tom! 

Sunday Funday Chicken Pickin’ Matinee Bank
Sunday, March 22, 1 to 4 p.m.
Shawn McCullough and his band including brother Dave “Fave” McCullough on bass and vocals and drummer Tom Uhryniw will be playing some of just that on select Sundays in the cooler months with special guests.
