The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police has charged a Smiths Falls resident with impaired driving following a single-vehicle collision in Drummond-North Elmsley Township.
On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, Lanark County OPP officers responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch at Burns Road and Buttermilk Road in Drummond-North Elmsley Township. Officers located the vehicle just after 6:20 p.m. After speaking with a witness, officers learned the driver had left the scene. Tamara Emon, 36, was located a short time later, arrested and transported to the Lanark County OPP detachment in Perth for testing.
As a result of the investigation, Emon was charged with:
- Operation while impaired — alcohol
- Failing to report an accident
- Driving a motor vehicle without a licence
- Failing to stop after an accident
- Operating a motor vehicle without insurance
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Monday, Aug. 24, 2026.
The accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days under the Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension program, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
