The Smiths Falls Jr. A Bears lost a tough 1-0 decision to the Kemptville 73’s at home Friday, Nov. 15 in front of 277 fans.
The lone goal came in the first period at the 5-minute mark when Eric Sweetapple scored his second of the season, to earn the third game star honours.
Despite the Bears outshooting the 73’s 34-10, the Kemptville netminder, Trenton Bennett was outstanding in the crease to earn the game’s first star honours.
Ethan Morrow was tagged with the loss between the pipes for the home team, and earned the second star nod.
The loss dropped the Bears to a third-place tie in the Robinson Division with the Brockville Braves with identical 9-1-1 records. Carleton Place (10-6-1-2) and Kemptville (10-8-3) are now tied at 23 points each for the top spot in the division. Overall, the Rockland Nationals are in first place with a 17-1-1 record for 35 points.
Smiths Falls will see how they match up against Rockland tonight with a 7:30 p.m. tilt on the road.
