Several people are facing charges following separate investigations by the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, including a copper wire theft probe, an intimate partner violence case and two impaired-driving investigations.
Copper wire investigation
Two people are facing charges after a traffic stop linked to a string of copper wire thefts in Lanark County and surrounding areas.
Officers observed a vehicle and two men in an area where cable wires had been cut on several occasions shortly after 2:30 a.m. June 19. The vehicle was stopped on Harper Road in Tay Valley Township a short time later.
Police said officers seized a large quantity of copper wire, break-in tools and small amounts of suspected methamphetamine and cannabis.
Dusty Bell, 38, of Carleton Place, is charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of break-in instruments, possession of a Schedule I substance (methamphetamine), driving while suspended, using plates not authorized for a vehicle and driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available.
Shawn Antoine, 40, of Lanark Highlands Township, is charged with possession of a Schedule I substance (methamphetamine), possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of break-in instruments, two counts of driving while suspended and driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available.
Both accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Aug. 8.
Intimate partner violence investigation
A 32-year-old Perth man faces charges following an intimate partner violence investigation.
Lanark County OPP began investigating after officers responded to a disturbance at a residence in Perth on June 18.
The accused is charged with forcible confinement, break and enter, and failing to comply with a probation order.
He was held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth at a later date.
Police did not release the accused’s name in order to protect the identity of the victim.

Perth woman charged after vehicle found in ditch
A Perth woman faces several charges after police responded to a report of a vehicle in a ditch on Highway 7 in Tay Valley Township.
Police received the call shortly after 12:30 a.m. June 21. Officers attended the scene, spoke with the driver and arrested her.
Emily Poole, 25, is charged with dangerous operation, failure or refusal to comply with a demand, driving a motor vehicle with liquor readily available, having care or control of a vehicle with cannabis readily available and failing to surrender an insurance card.
She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Aug. 3.
Her driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Impaired-driving charge
A Kingston resident is facing impaired-driving charges following a traffic stop in the Village of Lanark.
Police conducted the stop shortly after 3:15 p.m. June 21 and arrested the driver, who was taken to the Perth OPP detachment for testing.
Lisa Thurbron, 40, is charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired with a blood-alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.
She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on July 27.
Her driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
