Lanark County OPP charged two after impaired driving collision

The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two Smiths Falls residents after single vehicle collision.

Officers respond to a collision on Maitland Street in Beckwith Township on Sunday, May 18, 2025, just before 5:00 a.m. An off-duty officer stopped to assist the occupants, but the two individuals fled on foot into the woods. The individuals later turned themselves into police.

As a result of the investigation, Crystal FLEGG, age 22, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Obstruct justice
  • Common nuisance
  • Fail to remain
  • Fail to report accident
  • Careless driving

John MASON, age 20, has been charged with:

  • Obstruct justice
  • Common nuisance
  • Fail to remain
  • Fail to report accident

The accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on June 23, 2025.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension), and the vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
