Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police have laid charges in two intimate partner violence cases and a threats incident in Carleton Place, including allegations of sexual assault, assault and uttering threats.
Sexual assault charge follows intimate partner violence investigation
A 48-year-old Carleton Place man is facing charges including sexual assault following an intimate partner violence investigation.
Lanark County OPP began investigating June 19 after receiving allegations of intimate partner violence dating back to 2022.
The accused is charged with sexual assault, two counts of assault and mischief.
He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
Police did not release the accused’s name in order to protect the identity of the victim.
Threats investigation leads to weapon-related charges
A 46-year-old woman from Mississippi Mills is facing several charges following an investigation into alleged threats.
Lanark County OPP began investigating shortly after 2:30 p.m. June 19 after receiving a report that a person was damaging a door with a weapon while uttering threats toward a resident.
The accused is charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon and mischief.
She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth at a later date.
Police did not release the accused’s name in order to protect the identity of the victim, who is a young person.
IPV investigation leads to assault and choking-related charges
A 39-year-old Carleton Place man is facing charges following intimate partner violence investigation.
Lanark County OPP began investigating shortly after 12:30 a.m. June 20 after officers were called to a disturbance in Carleton Place.
The accused is charged with assault, overcoming resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle another person, and resisting a peace officer.
He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth at a later date.
Police did not release the accused’s name in order to protect the identity of the victim.
