The first candidates have filed nomination papers for the Township of Lanark Highlands’ municipal election on Oct. 26, with newcomers leading the way.
Frank Sodonis is currently the only candidate to have filed for deputy reeve.
In Ward 1, Keith Michaud and Peter Forshaw have both filed nomination papers, creating the municipality’s first contested race.
As of Friday, July 17, no candidates had filed nomination papers for reeve, and no members of the current council had entered the race, according to the township’s candidate list.
Nomination papers may be filed until 2 p.m. Aug. 21. Election day is Oct. 26.
