Lanark OPP make arrest in connection with trail incident

The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has made an arrest in connection with a disturbing incident in Carleton Place.

It happened March 14, 2024, on the Ottawa Valley Rail Trail in the Rosamond Street/Bell Street area.

Two girls, both under the age of 16, reported that a man made inappropriate sexual comments to them.

After an extensive investigation by the Lanark OPP Crime Unit and frontline officers from the Carleton Place office of the Lanark Detachment, an arrest was made today (March 19, 2024).

Hans HAUNER age 57 of Carleton Place has been charged with:

  • Invitation to sexual touching-under 16 years of age
  • Communicate with anyone under 18 for purpose of obtaining sexual services

The accused has been released from custody with mandatory conditions and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on April 22, 2024.
