Lets Eat—for local foodies: CC’s on the Rideau

Lakeside dining and seasonal dishes at CC’s on the Rideau for local foodies

CC’s on the Rideau is a full-service restaurant located in Rideau Ferry on Rideau Lake. They operate a scratch kitchen using high-quality ingredients prepared with care. That was certainly evident during a recent visit as they opened the 2026 season.

Their lakeside location includes a dining room complete with a woodstove, a large screened porch, and an attractive patio and lawn at lake level. A dock and parking lot accommodate guests arriving by water or by road.

We were met by owner Erin Van Pelt and our server, Courtney, along with her trainee. The greeting was friendly and the staff were knowledgeable about the menu and evening specials.

We started with drinks, and I opted for a Glenmorangie 10-year-old single malt to start the evening.

For the appetizer, we shared a bruschetta with tomatoes, garlic, fresh herbs, goat cheese and a balsamic drizzle on toasted ciabatta. It was a strong start, enjoyed while seated by the woodstove overlooking the shoreline as the lake ice gave way to spring.

The specials were a highlight. The grilled salmon, served with a charred Vidalia cream sauce, vegetables and rice, was well seasoned and cooked to a moist finish. The salmon fillet, described as sushi-grade, was prepared simply and effectively.

The chicken scallopini featured a lemon caper piccata sauce, with a lightly dredged chicken breast seared until golden and served over linguini. The sauce brought a bright, balanced flavour to the dish.

As a self-described travelling sommelier, I couldn’t resist pairing the meal with a bottle of 2024 Thirty Bench Pinot Noir from Niagara. The wine was light and flavourful, with enough acidity to cut through the richness of the sauces without overpowering the more delicate flavours of the dishes. A white wine would also have paired well, but the Pinot Noir complemented both entrées nicely.

We continue to return to CC’s several times a year for the lakeside setting, consistent food quality and welcoming service.

CC’s on the Rideau, 1030 Rideau Ferry Rd., Perth. Spring hours are Thursday to Saturday from 12 to 9 p.m., with Sunday service from 12 to 8 p.m.

Takeout orders can be placed by phone at 613-267-6060 or by email at ccsrideau@gmail.com. The menu includes gluten-free and vegan options.
