Man in Smiths Falls accused of using dog to attack officers in a busy May for police

Male facing charges after attempting to use dog to attack officers

On May 10th, 2025 officers were on proactive patrol when they observed a subject who was wanted by police for breaching his court issued release order. When officers approached; the subject released his large dog and yelled commands for the dog to attack the officers. The male was subsequently placed under arrest.

As a result of this investigation, 44 year old James Morris of Smiths Falls stands charged with obstruct peace officer (x1), assault public officer with a weapon (x1) and failing to comply with his bail release order. The accused was held in custody pending a bail court hearing.

Security guard assaulted- Two youths facing charges

On May 14th, 2025 the Smiths Falls Police Service received information of a security guard who was just assaulted at a local construction site. Members of the Smiths Falls Police responded to the area to begin the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, a 16 year old male has been charged with assault (x1), assault with a weapon (x1) and breach of recognizance (x1). The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

A 17 year old female has also been charged with assault (x1). The accused was later released with conditions. The accused will appear in court at a later date.

Intimate Partner Violence leads to multiple charges

On May 16th, 2025 Smiths Falls Police Service responded to an active disturbance within a residence. Members of the Smiths Falls police arrived on scene, where the suspect was located and surrendered to police without further incident.

As a result of the investigation, a 31 year old male from Perth was charged with mischief (x1), breach of their recognizance (x3) and failing to comply with their bail release order (x4). The accused was held in custody pending a bail court hearing.

Two facing IPV related charges

On May 16th, 2025 Smiths Falls Police Service received a 9-1-1 call alerting on an assault in progress. Members responded to the area to commence the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, a 41 year old male from Smiths Falls was charged with assault (x1), and uttering threats (x2). The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

A 44 year old female from Smiths Falls was also charged with assault (x1). The accused was held in custody pending a bail court hearing.

Traffic stop leads to passenger’s arrest

On May 17th, 2025 at approximately 10:50 p.m. Smiths Falls Police initiated a traffic stop in relation to a highway traffic violation. As the investigation commenced it was learned that one of the passengers was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

36 year old Jordan WILKINSON of Smiths Falls was arrested without incident for breaching their conditional sentence order. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Wanted male arrested on a warrant

On Sunday May 18th, 2025 members of the Smiths Falls Police conducted a traffic stop on a bicycle that failed to stop at a stop sign. The rider was known to police to have an outstanding bench warrant for their arrest.

As a result of the traffic stop, 56 year old Denis WHAN of Smiths Falls was arrested without incident. The accused failed to appear in court for previous shoplifting charges. The accused was later released on conditions and a new court appearance date.
