The race for seats around the Merrickville-Wolford council table is beginning to heat up ahead of Ontario’s Oct. 26 municipal election.
The township’s unofficial candidate list already includes a two-way contest for mayor, with Ann Barr and Michael Cameron both seeking the top job.
Merrickville-Wolford council consists of a mayor, two councillors representing Merrickville Ward and two representing Wolford Ward.
In Merrickville Ward, incumbent Margaret Gural is seeking re-election. The race in Wolford Ward is also taking shape, with incumbent Stephen Ireland looking to retain his seat and Kait Brady stepping forward as a council candidate.
More names could join the ballot before the Aug. 21 nomination deadline.
