4 candidates are seeking 2 Ramsay Ward seats, the municipality’s only contested council race
Most positions on Mississippi Mills council appear headed for acclamation following the close of nominations for the 2026 municipal election.
Incumbent Mayor Christa Lowry is the only candidate seeking the municipality’s top elected position, while incumbent Deputy Mayor Rickey Minnille is also running unopposed.
In Almonte Ward, Jane Torrance and Mary Lou Souter are the only candidates seeking the ward’s two council seats.
Tavis Joron is the sole candidate for the Pakenham Ward council position.
The municipality’s only contested council race is in Ramsay Ward, where four candidates are seeking two seats.
Bev Holmes, Brien Devries, John Cochran and Vicki Lowe have filed nomination papers for the ward.
The candidate list remains unofficial. Candidates running without opposition are expected to be acclaimed, subject to certification by the municipal clerk.
The clerk is expected to examine and certify nominations by Monday, Aug. 24.
The municipal election will be held Oct. 26.
