Building Lanark (County) Affordable Housing (BLAH!), a project The Table Community Food Centre (The Table) is launching. The first public information session Monday, March 6, 2023 6:30-8:00pm will be at The Table in Perth. We will be welcoming some of our municipal officials to participate in a panel discussion: “How Can We Obtain Affordable Housing?”

The Table and BLAH! recognize housing as a human right. Our public sessions are designed to educate, communicate, and collaborate with experts, community members, and municipal leaders on what can be done about the housing crisis in Lanark County.

We are looking forward to welcoming Judy Brown (Perth Mayor), Rob Rainer (Tay Valley Township Reeve), Peter McLaren (Lanark Highlands Reeve), Steven Fournier (Drummond/North Elmsley Reeve), and Kurt Greaves (CAO County of Lanark).

There will be eight public information sessions and three field trips from March to October 2023. Throughout the project, BLAH! will research viable affordable housing issues and options, including, but not limited to, environmentally sustainable energy efficient home solutions and cooperative housing. The Table is grateful to the Perth and District Community Foundation (PDCF) for providing the financial support for the project.

We extend an invitation to the media and community members to both The Table’s community meal and the speaker’s presentations.  They are held the first Monday of each month (March – October, 2023). The Table Community Food Centre is located at 190 Gore Street East, Perth.

The Community Meal is 4:30 – 6:00pm and the BLAH! Presentations: 6:30 – 8:00pm.
