Covid-19 at the Francis Street Daycare in Carleton Place

On Friday Aug. 28th, the town hall in Carleton Place issued a press release indicating possible exposure to the Covid-19 virus for a small number of children and staff at the municipally-run daycare on Francis Street.

The release also states that anyone considered high risk from this exposure has already been contacted by the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit with advice and instructions.  In addition all parents of children at this facility have received a letter outlining this situation from the Health Unit.  The affected children and staff are isolating at their homes and will be tested.

The unit’s medical officer of health, Dr. Paula Stewart was quoted as stating. “I am very pleased with the infection control measures implemented in the Centre.  As a direct result of the safety measures in place since the reopening the risk to the rest of the Centre is considered low.”

The following precautions are recommended to be followed by the health unit for all staff, children, and parents who attended the daycare on Monday Aug. 24th.

If symptoms develop,

  • Immediately self isolate
  • Contact the Health Unit at 1-800-660-5853 ext 2222
  • Get tested
