Lanark OPP investigating damage to art sculpture in Almonte

The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking the public’s assistance regarding to damage done to a modern art sculpture at the Metcalfe Geoheritage Park in Almonte. The damage was believed to have occurred in the overnight hours between August 31 and September 2, 2020.

The sculpture, titled “Shelter Tissage”, was on loan from the National Capital Commission (NCC) and had been created by a local Almonte artist in 1992 to commemorate Canada’s 125th birthday. Some of the damage done to the sculpture is not repairable.

Anyone who has information regarding this incident, or any other criminal offences, is encouraged to contact the Lanark County OPP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS).
