Santa Claus is still coming to town

Even though the COVID-19 pandemic has limited the ability to run some of the normal Christmas events in Perth, organizers are finding inventive ways to keep the Christmas spirit alive. The annual Santa Claus Parade is not being held this year, however Santa will still be in Town on two occasions.

On December 5th, volunteers of the Perth Lions Club have organized a drive-thru Santa event at the Perth Fairgrounds from 4 to 7 pm, with the assistance of the Perth Fair Board, Perth Fire Department, Lanark County OPP detachment, and Town of Perth. The drive-thru will see vehicles entering through the main gate located at Arthur and Halton Streets and exiting onto the Scotch Line. Everyone is asked to please stay in their vehicles and enjoy the sights from a distance.

Santa has also found time to visit on December 12th.  He will be driven through the streets of Perth, with the assistance of the Perth Fire Department and the Town of Perth, starting at 5 pm. Residents are asked to wave from a distance and stay on their properties if possible. It is expected to take approximately two hours to complete the route. For more details, follow the Town of Perth Facebook site.

Mayor John Fenik states, “Nothing can take away the Christmas spirit from Perth residents!  These two events will help spread Christmas cheer in a year like no other. Thank you to all the volunteers that are making these events happen.”
