New term of council to create fresh Strategic Plan

The newly formed council of the town of Smiths Falls will be developing a Strategic Plan to guide their decision making over the next four years. During Monday night’s Committee of the Whole meeting, Chief Administration Officer Malcolm Morris presented council with the recommendation to pursue strategic plan development with the services of the Queen’s Executive Decision Centre.

Councilor Chris McGuire was enthusiastic to participate in this process again. “This is one of my favourite things we did in the last term [of council]; I don’t think there’s anything that’s going to give us better value over the next four years.”

Councilor Jay Brennan was also in favour. “The Queen’s group does an absolutely terrific job; plus it’s good team building for us.”

The Strategic Plan report at the end of term for the former council was shared in October by CAO Morris.

The cost of the Strategic Plan is $6,200, with additional costs expected for public engagement. There is currently $10,000 in the budget designated for this task.
