Behind closed doors: Recent arrests unveil disturbing cases of intimate partner violence

Male arrested for Intimate Partner Violence

On Wednesday January 3rd, 2024, police attended a Chambers St address to investigate a disturbance and reported assault. The investigation revealed an Intimate Partner Violence assault by a male party on his female partner.  As a result, the suspect stands charged with the following:  Assault (IPV) and breach of his recognizance of bail X2. 

The suspect was held in Police custody to await a bail hearing to answer to the charge of assault. 

Male arrested for Intimate Partner Violence

On Thursday January 4th, 2024, the Smiths Falls Police entered into an IPV investigation related to a male party assaulting his female partner. On Friday January 5th, 2024 a 30-year-old Smiths Falls male attended the Smiths Falls Police Station and was arrested on an outstanding domestic related offences of assault, choking and Failing to comply with his release order X3. He was held in Police custody to await a bail hearing.

On Thursday January 4th, 2024, the Smiths Falls Police responded to a disturbance call and subsequently entered into an IPV investigation. The investigation revealed a 22-year-old Smiths Falls male present at the dispatched address in breach of 6 previous release orders. The male was located hiding outside the residence and was arrested and stands charged with failing to comply with his release order X6. He was held in Police custody to await a bail hearing.

Female arrested Public intoxication and assault Police X2

On Friday January 5th, 2024, Police responded to a suspicious person call at a local business. The investigation revealed 39-year-old female was intoxicated and un-cooperative with officers. The accused assaulted both officers and was arrested for the assaults and charged accordingly. She was held in Police custody until sober and safe then released by way of a Form 10 Undertaking with a court date to answer to the charges.

 Male arrested for Intimate Partner Violence

On Monday January 8th, 2024, the Smiths Falls Police responded to a dispatched call for a disturbance call and possible domestic dispute. Police attended and the investigation confirmed the dispute to be an IPV incident and entered into an IPV investigation. The investigation revealed a 28-year-old Smiths Falls male present at the dispatched address had assaulted his female partner, had damaged her belongings and was in possession of Schedule I drugs. The male was arrested and stands charged with assault IPV, mischief damage to property IPV and possession of CDSA schedule I substance. He was held in Police custody to await a bail hearing.

Two Females arrested theft under $5000

On Wednesday January 10th, 2024, Police responded to a theft call at a local business on Lombard St involving 2 females and a male party. The complainant advised the suspects were now engaged in a disturbance at another local business. Officers located and arrested the two females involved. One female was held in Police custody to await a bail hearing as she was found to be in breach of probation for similar type offences, the other female party, a youth, was released on a court diversion program. The male party is still outstanding.
