Witnesses asked to come forth

SUBMITTED

The Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to investigate a fatal single motorcycle collision.

On May 26, 2024, shortly after 5:00 a.m., members of the Leeds OPP received reports of a motorcycle in the west ditch on County Road 29, between the intersections of Kitley Line 6 and Kinch St.

No witnesses have come forth at this time. The time or cause of the collision are still undetermined. The motorcycle was cold to the touch when officers arrived on scene. The rider appeared to have been going southbound when it happened.

Lifesaving measures were taken immediately, however the operator of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has been identified as a 37 year-old man from the Lombardy area.

OPP Collision Reconstructionists and members of the Traffic Collision Investigation Team have concluded their portion of the investigation, and as a result, the roadway reopened later the same day. The Office of the Chief Coroner and the Office of Forensic Pathology have begun their investigation into the cause of death of the operator.

If you witnessed the collision, or have relevant dashcam video, contact the Leeds County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. If you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or leave your tip online at ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
