Royal Canadian Legion Branch 95 is extending heartfelt thanks to all residents, businesses, service groups, schools, first responders, volunteers, cadets, and retailers across Smiths Falls, Montague, and Rideau Lakes Township for their incredible generosity during the 2024 Poppy Campaign.

Thanks to your efforts, placing donation boxes, providing tables and chairs, staffing collection locations and serving coffee, an impressive $46,000 was raised. Even more meaningful, every dollar remains in the local community, directly supporting veterans and their families in real, tangible ways. Branch 95 reports that Poppy funds are held in trust and strictly used for purposes such as:

  • Emergency financial aid – heating, prescription medication, home repairs & clothing
  • Medical needs – equipment, appliances, accessibility modifications, care facilities
  • Veteran transition and assistance programs, including bursaries for descendants and cadet support
  • Transport and day-trip services, comfort items for hospitalized veterans
  • Remembrance activities and disaster relief in our region

Historically, such funds have been used to help install an MRI for PTSD care, cover the cost of hearing aids, provide rent assistance, and offer help with roofing or heating, all within Canada.

Locally, the $46,000 collected by Branch 95 will go to similar life-changing support efforts in this community.

Branch 95 emphasizes that donations aren’t just symbols of gratitude; they translate into vital, real-world aid for veterans and families who once served all of us.
