Big changes to garbage collection in Perth

PERTH — Starting immediately, residents will no longer need bag tags for their regular garbage collection. Each household can now place up to two bags every two weeks, and no tags are needed.

This is an improvement from the old system, which only covered about 1.5 bags every two weeks.

If residents need to put out more garbage, they must attach a tag to the additional bags. Leftover tags can still be used, and new ones may be purchased at Town Hall at a reduced price.

On Aug. 26, council approved a bag tag price drop from $3.30 to $2 per tag, in effect as soon as the town updates its Fees and Charges By-Law. A public notice will be shared on the town’s website and social media platforms as soon as that happens.

For more information, visit Perth.ca/Garbage or contact Town Hall at 613-267-3311.
