Arrests made in Smiths Falls for outstanding warrants and hate-motivated assault

Male arrested on outstanding warrants

On May 24 2024, 26 year old Jeffrey HAMILTON of no fixed address was arrested on outstanding warrants. HAMILTON was wanted in relation to a residential break and enter which took place on Gladstone Avenue on May 9th 2024. 31 year old Cassandra MEILLEUR of Smiths Falls is also currently wanted in relation to this investigation. If you are aware of MEILLEUR’s current whereabouts please contact the Smiths Falls Police or Crime Stoppers.

Man arrested for hate motivated mischief and assault

On May 16 2024, the Smiths Falls Police Service received a complaint that a Town of Smiths Falls employee had been assaulted while revitalizing the pride flag cross walk on Beckwith Street. During the investigation, it was learned that the employee was approached by a male suspect who proceeded to spit on them while making homophobic comments.

55 year old Michael WEBSTER of Smiths Falls was located and arrested by police shortly thereafter in relation to this incident. He currently stands accused of multiple Criminal Code offences.
