Bears deliver on the ice and give back to the community

The Bears’ quick mid-week report.

CHRIS UHLIG

The Nepean Raiders sailed into town Tuesday night to look for an easy scoring treasure, but were shredded by the Bears’ claws instead. More about it in the second half of the article. Shaymus Stevenson became part of the All-Graduate Team and was named Graduating Player of the Year by the CCHL. David Hails meanwhile got his name on the All-Rookie team. Congratulations! The Bears invited the public Wednesday to a March Break Skate in conjunction with the Smiths Falls Police Association, gratefully accepted by many families.

But now back to the nitty gritty details of the Tuesday game against the Nepean Raiders. While weekday games naturally enjoy less popularity, the 137 attendees got treated to a great game, seeing the Bears take away a 5-0 win. Quinn Booth started off with a powerplay score at 6:31 in the first period. Trevor Faucher followed up, sinking in not one but two goals at 13:54 and 16:33 respectively. Travis Ouellette finished the period with a powerplay goal at the 19:44 mark. The lone goal of the second period was the work of Shaymus Stevenson. The final period saw no further scoring.

Trevor Faucher got First Star of the night, goalie Nikolas Trakakis earned Second Star, and Third Star went to Nepean’s goalie John Gedraitis.
